Sudhamurthy has been a teacher, writer, and businesswoman. Sudha Murthy is the chairperson of ‘The Infosys Foundation as well as a member of the health department of ‘The Gates Foundation’. Sudha Murthy was born on 19 August 1950 in the southern state of Karnataka, India. His father’s name is .H. Kulkarni and his mother’s name is Vimala Kulkarni. Sudha Kulkarni’s father was a surgeon associated with the profession of a doctor.

After completing engineering education, he completed ME education in the field of Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science and he also Sudhamurthy got a gold medal from the Indian Institute of Engineering, standing first. Sudhamurthy was married to NR Narayana Murthy on 10 February 1978.
NR Narayana Murthy was an engineer at TELCO company located in Pune, Maharashtra. Before marriage, Sudhamurthy’s name was Sudha Kulkarni.

After completing his education, Sudhamurthy started his career as an engineer at Pune-based (TELCO) Tata Engineering and Locomotives Company as a graduate trainee. She was the first woman engineer in TELCO.
Sudhamurthy was earlier appointed as Pune Development Engineer and had served in Jamshedpur along with Mumbai. Before selection in TELCO Tata Engineering Locomotive Company, Sudhamurthy informed TELCO company through a postcard complaining that only male personnel are recruited in this company. As a result of which Sudhamurthy was called for an interview by Tata Motors.
Thus Sudhamurthy was appointed as the first woman engineer in Tata Motors (erstwhile Telco). After her stint at Tata Motors, Sudhamurthy joined the Balchand Group of Industries in Pune as a Senior Systems Analyst. At the FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) chairperson installation ceremony, Sudhamurthy said that she got advice from JRD Tata when she quit her job to help her husband Narayana Murthy’s startup company ‘Infosys’.
Infosys had changed his life. Sudhamurthy used to say that no one was the master of money, you can be retarded only by relying on money and money always changes hands. Infosys Foundation was started by Sudha Murthy in 1996 along with her husband Narayana Murthy.
